Who We Are

Sun City Photography Club

Our goal is to help all members become the photographers they want to be.  And just as important -- have some fun alone the way. The Club offers meetings of the full membership, Special Interest Groups, Workshop, Classes and Field trips to assist our members enjoy photography.

Meetings

Our monthly meetings for the whole membership are usually held on the first Tuesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. in the Activities Center Atrium.  We only have a social gathering in December.  These meetings offer updates on club activities, a short program, and images based on a subject of the month (SOM).  Digital images are projected so our members can admire and comment on them.  Prints are also displayed and are later hung in various buildings.  Special Interests Groups, Workshop, Courses, etc meet in the Photography Studio located to the left of the Social Center in the Craft Center at 2B Texas Drive #104.

Field Trips

Our members go places with great photography possibilities.  The trips, of a few hours or a few days, provide time to learn new techniques and develop friendships with other photographers. Follow-up review sessions give an opportunity to see the same subject through other eyes.

Workshops & Education

Photographers with point and shoot cameras and those with big DSLRs have all enjoyed photographing drops of water hitting the pan, images through oil and water, and taking pictures of smoke.  Education workshops have included using the RAW format, HDR photography, action for Elements, and making photo books.  We offer classes such as Photography 101 a comprehensive survey of topics to help the beginning photographer enjoy photography more.  Other classes are in development.  Another class is improving your point and shoot photography.  The Club has a program that provides one on one assistance with photography skills.

Special Interest Groups

A Special Interest Group (SIG) is a segment of the membership with a common interest in an area of photography or photo editing.  The number of SIGs at any time varies depending on the interests of our members.  Most SIGs meet once a month in the studio for discussion, viewing images, a presentation on a topic, and/or practice of a skill.  SIGs that may be interest are: Advanced Photoshop, Competition, Digital Scrapbooking, Experienced Photographers, Nature Photography, Novice, Photoshop Elements, Printing, Photo Art and Travel Photography
