Nature Photographers SIG

Roy McDonald, coordinator  -- Our objective is to capture better nature images by improving our technical and aesthetic skills.  At our meetings we bring images of a subject that the group previously selected.  We discuss what we might have done better in making the photograph and in optimizing it in Photoshop to produce the best possible image.

Novice Photographers SIG

Sherry McRae, coordinator --  Our objective is to help members grow as photographers and to have a lot of fun along the way.  This group is open to everyone no matter their skill level.  Our meetings have a variety of activities.  Check the calendar for what happens next.

Advanced Photoshop SIG

John Miles, coordinator -- Our objective is to share information about optimizing digital images using the professional version of Photoshop.  Our meetings are round table discussions where we review current Photoshop techniques and discuss problems being encountered by our members.  We also view video tutorials describing some of the new or more interesting features to help us get the most out of Photoshop. Click here for Advanced Photoshop Tips.

A Special Interest Group (aka SIG) is a group of people with a common interest in a segment of photography, photo editing or printing.  A SIG can be created if members are interested in forming, organizing and running it.  SIGs will come and go as interests change.

SIG meetings will normally be held in the Photography Club Studio (located in the Crafts Center next to the Social Center).  The members of a SIG will decide when it is to meet and how frequently.  Check the Club Calendar here for dates, times and details.

Many of the SIGs have excellent information their members have compiled.  These articles, notes, links, etc. are listed under Technical Topics/Useful Links on the home page.  Click here for the Technical Topics/Useful Links page.

Competition SIG

Holly Moore, coordinator  -- Our objective is to help photographers who want to improve their skills through competition.  We judge and critique images within the SIG and submit images to competitions outside the club.  We explore what makes a good competition image and learn how to judge.  We learn the rules of competition and how to run a competition.  We give ourselves fun photo challenges, such as scavenger hunts. Challenging and encouraging each other to think outside the box, we have fun while learning to become better photographers and not to take ourselves too seriously while we are doing it. Digital Scrapbooking SIG

Joyce Wans, coordinator -- Our objective is to combine our photography skills and our photo editing skills to produce attractive, meaningful scrapbook pages.  The pages can be printed and inserted in traditional albums or printed in photobooks.  We work on our individual projects using the new techniques we learn at each meeting.

Photoshop Elements SIG

Randall Best and Rich Lovaas, co-coordinators --  Our objective is to do the easy stuff with the easy editor.  Click here for Meeting Notes.

Travel Photographers SIG

Jim Wooll, coordinator -- Our objective is to document our adventures and share the experience.  We view members' photos using a variety of slideshow techniques and sometimes collage, photo albums, blogs and websites.  We encourage discussion of the way the photos are used to tell the story of our travels.  For information on how to make a Travel Photo  Book, click here.
