Opportunities to Display Photographs

This note is intended to briefly describe all of the opportunities for Photography Club members to display their art in and around Sun City.

The Oaks:  Images must be framed with wire ready to hang.  Framed images must be 16x20; 18x18, or 20x20.  Image can be “For Sale” or not.  Space available for 7 photographs.  It is suggested that pictures be previously entered in Club shows, contests, or shown at a club meeting. Pictures will be shown for 2-3 months.  Tyler Crowder, Coordinator

GSCCC (Gulf States Council of Camera Clubs)  --  This is a competition of about 25 clubs from Texas and adjacent states.  The competition is between clubs, not individuals.  Non-Framed images.  Mounted.  May or may not be “top-matted.”  Usually a “slides” category in addition to prints.  Sizes and subjects vary from month to month and this information is available by linking to it from the Photography Club website.  Subjects are broadly defined so it’s easy to submit an image.  Images are due each month at GSCCC Coordinator Tom Ommen’s house by the first of each month.  This competition continues for the year (ending in May.  Images awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category each month are given recognition.)  Judging rotates among member clubs.  Additional information can be found on our website.

Social Center Display Window—In order to give all Photography Club members a better opportunity to have their work displayed in the Social Center Display Window, the Committee has decided to accept one photograph per person to be placed in the selection process.  The exception being that if there are not a sufficient number of photographs submitted, then a second photograph per person will be accepted only for that specific selection process.

Images will be selected each month by the Committee after the Photography Club meeting and can be from the monthly subject or a non-subject photo. The selected photographs will be displayed for a month and can be "for sale." Eight photographs will be selected from those submitted. In order to place your image in the selection process, they should be no smaller than 8x10 inches up to a maximum of 11x14 inches and secured to a backing or mounting board.  Mattes are optional and the finished size should be 11x14 inches." and securely assembled, with no plastic cover.

They must have the following information on the back:  1) title of image, 2) your name, and 3) price or NFS.  You will also be required to sign the standard VAC "sign in" sheet.  If you have any questions, please contact.  Tillie Farmer farmbt@suddenlink.net

Visual Arts Club Studio and Hallways  --  Framed images, any size. Change-Out aprox every 2 months.  Can be “for sale.”  Usually limited to two or three images each.  Under VAC control.

Sun City Cyber Center:   Either framed or matted images.  Can be “for sale”.  Change-out will be done on a continuing basis as images are submitted to the Coordinators: Tillie Farmer farmbt@suddenlink.net
