Featured Photographer

Roy McDonald

Roy has spent all of his life living close to nature.  Growing up on a farm fostered respect and love for flora and fauna and gave him a chance for first hand observance of natural history.  He pursued a doctorate in the plant sciences that afforded him a career in the natural world.

His interest in photography started at an early age when his parents gave him a Kodak Brownie camera that he used to photograph farm animals and plants.

photographing the world around him.  As the years went by, he progressively obtained better photographic equipment and honed his skills to better capture scenes in nature.

Roy enjoys photographing landscapes and wildflowers.  He loves to travel to new places to experience and photograph the beauty of nature.  His goal is to capture the beauty, feeling and essence of a scene as he experiences it and to convey this in his photographs.  Consequently, he does very little manipulation or enhancement of images in the computer.

He retired in Georgetown six years ago and now dedicates as much time as possible to the art of nature photography.  He uses a 35-mm SLR film camera and variety of lenses to capture his images.
