What's Going On in the Intro to Photography SIG?

Members of the Introduction to Photography SIG (The "Boot Camp") attended a separate mini-workshop earlier this month on how to set up and use the Club's Studio Lights and related items. These are some pictures of the action. All came away with a better appreciation as well as the advantages of using the studio lights for both portraits and "set-ups" (still life) photography. This month several SIG members attended a Visual Arts Club workshop in the photo studio on How to Make Greeting Cards.

Other mini-workshops are scheduled for those who are "Point-and-Shoot Camera" users; and an Introduction to Printing mini-workshop. These workshops are structured for those who are in the Intro SIG. The SIG is now half way through Boot Camp I, Photo Basics, and Boot Camp II, Light and Composition. Boot Camp III will follow and will cover the basics of Photoshop Elements. These three SIGs should wrap-up sometime in August.

SIG members now have a full Exhibit Wall in the Club's Studio, and it looks great.

The Introduction to Photography Special Interest Group meets on the first and third Thursdays at 9:30 in the Club Studio. The SIG works to meet the needs of all novice photographers, whether "Casual Photographers," or those who want to learn to create "Exhibition Quality" and "Award Winning" images. This year, for the first time, the Club's Annual Fall Competition will have a special Division just for "novice photographers." Many of the SIG members are eager to participate in the Georgetown Art Center's activities. Scheduled opening is now November.
