Moving to Sun City from Houston in 2005, after fifty-odd years in medicine, I renewed a long latent interest in photography, just at the time when digital technology allowed an explosion of creativity, and central Texas offered a wealth of new friends and "shooting on location" sites.

I grew up in Cleburne, Texas, where the Santa Fe had a repair and switching yard, and I remember my Kodak Browny and me taking some extremely dramatic and powerful pictures of the trainmen and their gargantuan locomotives.  (My memory is a much better editor than photoshop, but, unfortunately, you can't print your best shots from that kind of memory.)  So, now, I particularly enjoy taking pictures where there is an interplay of patterned light and shadow, and am continuing to work to improve the drama in my black and white expressions.

Also, I am constantly struck by the impact that the attached "title" has on my perception of the meaning inherent in any given picture.  It gives me almost more insight into the intent of the photographer than the picture itself, and can be an interesting challenge when preparing my own photos for showing.

Fortunately, one of the beauties of photography is that there is always, always, always, more to be learned, and, here in the Photo Club, there is very expert help and unselfish support to guide and move you forward.
